Our client, an ambitious Israeli health-tech startup building a smart, digital, and affordable HMO in the US, is looking for a Middle+/Senior Python Backend Engineer. You will help build scalable, robust backend solutions that power a comprehensive healthcare platform, empowering users with proactive health management, video consultations, and personalized insights.

The Mission & Responsibilities

• Design and deploy scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Python and Django (DRF).
• Architect and maintain micro-services, ensuring high reliability, performance, and security of the backend infrastructure.
• Optimize PostgreSQL and Redis databases, building efficient data models to handle complex healthcare data flows.
• Integrate internal core systems smoothly with various third-party external medical and insurance platforms.
• Implement comprehensive testing strategies, including unit and integration tests, within CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and the engineering team on system design and code reviews.

Requirements

Must-haves:

• 5+ years of software development experience, with strong proficiency in Python and the Django (DRF) framework.
• Solid, hands-on experience with Cloud platforms
• Proven hands-on experience building and maintaining micro-services architectures.
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, advanced database design, and data modeling.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, web services, and working with containerized applications (Docker).
• Good level of experience with Data Engineering (specifically Pandas & SQL) is highly desirable.
• Hands-on experience working with AI tools.
• Fluent English and proven experience working effectively in global, distributed teams.

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience with GCP services (Cloud Run, PubSub, GKE) and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with FastAPI, Celery, and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Front-end development and related technologies/frameworks (e.g. React.js) 
• Strong knowledge of security best practices.
• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• Previous work experience in the Health Insurance or HealthTech domains.
